Opus (task mining)
Records desktop work, rebuilds each recorded task and costs every case: the core of digital interaction intelligence.
Opus (task mining)
Digital interaction intelligence shows how people really work across their desktop applications, one task at a time. In Optimus Hive, Opus (task mining) records and rebuilds that desktop work on Windows PCs, and Favus (process mining) adds the view from your business systems' event logs.
Digital interaction intelligence (DII) is software that records how people work in desktop applications and rebuilds their tasks and processes from that record. DII then shows how the same work varies between people, where the time goes, and which work could be improved, automated or handed to AI agents.
Everest Group calls this software category digital interaction intelligence. Digital interaction intelligence starts at the desktop, with the person doing the work, while process mining starts from the event logs that business systems write.
Opus turns desktop activity into measured, costed tasks, in steps your analysts can review and correct.
Collection begins once an administrator publishes a device privacy policy. On each Windows PC, Opus then notes the application and website in use, the window title, and when each activity starts and ends. Keyboard and mouse actions are counted per activity, and idle periods are marked.
Employees start a task recording in Opus and enter the case ID where one applies, so the activity that follows belongs to that task and case.
Each recorded case opens into its steps, with the time and duration of every step. A task process map then combines the recorded cases and shows the variants people follow.
Every task case is costed from its duration and the department's hourly or daily rate, so you can compare what each way of doing the task costs.
Analysts mark the best recorded run as the approved way of working. Agent Studio in Opus measures a recorded task, including its cases, source events and most common application path, before any AI draft.
See each step on the Opus task mining software page.
Favus (process mining) complements digital interaction intelligence with process maps built from the event logs your business systems write.
The desktop record shows the steps inside a task, including work no business system logs. Favus process mining software follows each case from start to end, using a case ID, an activity and a timestamp for every event.
Once an administrator sets the case-matching rule and employees enter the same case ID, Opus and Favus can place desktop activity inside each business case.
Optimus Hive was named a Major Contender and a Star Performer in Everest Group's Digital Interaction Intelligence Products PEAK Matrix® Assessment 2026.
Optimus Hive
Everest Group, PEAK Matrix® Assessment 2026
Two Optimus Hive products cover this capability: Opus at the desktop and Favus in your business systems.

Records desktop work, rebuilds each recorded task and costs every case: the core of digital interaction intelligence.

Adds process maps built from system event logs, for the end-to-end view that a desktop record does not give.
Short answers to what digital interaction intelligence is, how it differs from process mining, and which Optimus Hive product delivers it.
Digital interaction intelligence is software that shows how people really work in desktop applications, by recording which applications and websites they use and rebuilding each task from that record. The record covers desk work that business systems never log, such as moving data between a spreadsheet and a web form, and shows where the same task is done in different ways.
The two start from different records: digital interaction intelligence from what people do in their applications, process mining from the events that business systems log. The desktop record shows the steps inside each task, while process mining follows whole cases from start to end. Optimus Hive covers both, with Opus (task mining) at the desktop and Favus (process mining) for your business systems.
Opus (task mining) delivers it: Opus records desktop work on Windows PCs, rebuilds each recorded task step by step and puts a cost on every case. Favus (process mining) complements Opus with the process view from system event logs, and Via (transformation planning) plans the move of selected work to AI agents.
