What is digital interaction intelligence?
Digital interaction intelligence (DII) is software that records how people work in desktop applications and rebuilds their tasks and processes from that record. DII then shows how the same work varies between people, where the time goes, and which work could be improved, automated or handed to AI agents.
Everest Group calls this software category digital interaction intelligence. Digital interaction intelligence starts at the desktop, with the person doing the work, while process mining starts from the event logs that business systems write.
Where Everest Group sees the market going
Everest Group sees the digital interaction intelligence market moving toward continuous monitoring, workforce and application intelligence, simulation, generative-AI-assisted analysis, and visibility into work shared by people and AI agents.
These are Everest Group's views on where the category is heading. They describe the market as a whole, not what any single provider offers today.
How the Optimus Hive suite relates to digital interaction intelligence
In our mapping, Opus (task mining) delivers digital interaction intelligence by recording desktop work, rebuilding each recorded task step by step and costing every case. Favus (process mining) adds the system view from event logs, and Via (transformation planning) plans the move of selected work to AI agents.
Favus is part of Optimus Hive but sits outside digital interaction intelligence: Favus works from the event logs that business systems write, the approach Everest Group contrasts with the desktop view. Read more about Opus task mining software, Favus process mining software and Via agentic workforce transformation. The capabilities the three deliver together are on the Optimus Hive platform page.
| Element | What Optimus Hive does | Product |
|---|---|---|
| Capture desktop work | Opus records applications, websites, window titles and time on Windows desktops, and employees record tasks with a case ID. | Opus (task mining) |
| Rebuild tasks and processes | Opus rebuilds each recorded task step by step and maps its variants in a task process map. | Opus |
| Find inefficiencies and variations | Opus costs every task case from its duration and the department's rate, so expensive variants stand out. Favus shows where cases wait between steps. | Opus; Favus (process mining) |
| Surface improvement and automation opportunities | Agent Studio in Opus measures a recorded task before any design work, and analysts mark the best recorded run as the approved way of working. Agent Studio then drafts an AI-agent design for your team to review. Agent Studio needs an AI provider set up for your workspace, and its AI drafts are not part of the free trial. | Opus |
