Client

Optimus Hive client module has 2 components.

  1. Monitor Service: It controls the second component Optimus Hive data capture executable. Monitor service is visible/ accessible to the users with administrative privilege. Such administrative user is able to stop the Optimus Hive service if needed.
  2. Optimus Hive data capture utility: It provides users the ability to record individual transactions by selecting the desired task, and then by clicking on “Start Recording”. Once execution of that task is completed, the user ends the recording by clicking on the “Stop” button.

Record business tasks is the sequence of application/ navigations and the actions performed by a logged-in user. Optimus Hive data capture utility provides users the ability to record individual transactions.

  1. The user needs to right-click on the Optimus Hive icon visible in the “System Tray” of the screen.
  2. The user needs to select “Record a Task”
  3. Then the particular task for which execution steps are to be recorded.

Once the task is selected, the user needs to click on “Start Recording” to capture the execution steps. The utility will start capturing the data. It also keeps tracking the recording duration and shows that at the top right corner in hh:mm:ss format.

  • Pause the Recording During the recording of execution steps of a particular task, the user may want to take certain actions which are not related to the task he/she is executing. The Optimus Hive Data Capture Utility provides the ability to pause the ongoing recording to handle such scenario and helps in preventing potential noise in the task execution steps. Once clicked on “pause”, the activities done by user thereafter would not be tagged with the task unless the user resumes the recording. To resume the recording click on the ‘Play’ icon as shown above.
  • Invalidate the Recording User can also realize a recording as incorrect or invalid early on during the recording phase itself. if a user identifies such recordings as invalid or starts some recording by mistake, he/she can invalidate that recording by checking the ‘Invalid’ box in Optimus Hive Client. Once the “Invalid” box is checked, a pop-up will appear to confirm the user’s choice to invalidate the recording after clicking on “Stop” as shown in the image below: The invalidated recording will appear in the list of recordings of that task but would not be considered for task analysis

Prompt to end/pause the ongoing recording in case the user misses it Optimus Hive Client Utility icon is visible in the system tray and allows the user to start and end recording of a particular task manually. The user right-clicks on the icon, and selects the relevant task to start the recording. After that the Discover Client Utility gets docked in the bottom right corner of the user’s screen and automatically hides after 10 seconds. Once the user finishes executing the task he can end the recording by right-clicking on the Optimus Hive icon and then clicking on the “Stop” button. The user can also choose to pause or invalidate the ongoing recording as explained in the earlier section. User at times may miss ending the recording after the transaction is executed for a particular task. This would result in the Optimus Hive client continue recording user actions. In order to ensure that user stops the recording after the transaction execution, the Optimus Hive client will be prompted on the user screen after a specific time interval. The system will utilize the average handle time that was configured for a specific process. If the recording duration (current time -start recording time) goes beyond the average handle time for that process, the Optimus Hive client will be prompted to the user as a reminder to end the ongoing recording.

For e.g. the average handle time for a process is set as T. If a user starts recording a transaction for this process, and did not end the recording till the duration T, the system should show the following overlay at T. The user may choose to end the record or pause or invalidate it as the case may be.
